Our Group Learn-to-Swim Program is designed exclusively for children. Adjustment to the water, helping children to overcome fear, assist in adjusting to the water, breathing, buoyancy, body position and relaxation, coordinated stroking, improvement of the crawl stroke and elementary backstroke are just some of the instructions this program provides. Additionally, water safety skills are taught thru our "Think Safety Compliance", an aquatics safety awareness component incorporated in each class prepares children for a lifetime of safe, aquatic fun and fitness.

Three (3) one-hour sessions with a class maximum ratio of 1:4 Cost: $150ea.
Baby and Me (parent assisted): This Saturday morning class will guide parents in techniques to include correct body alignment and positioning, blowing, floating assist, paddle skill basics and fundamental aquatic safety and skill. Each child must be at least 3 months of age by the start of class and be able to control head movement.
3 mos. - 2 years (Saturday 10- 11a)
Guppies 1: This is our first level without a parent, generally aged 3, and designed for the true beginner. Introduction to basic skills kicking, blowing bubbles and putting their face in the water (submerging). The goal is water-safety skills, being comfortable in the water, along with the socialization in a class environment:
3-5 years (Saturday 11-12n)
Guppies 2: Additionally, this class helps students overcome fear and assist them in adjusting to the water, breathing (using the mouth for breathing, breath holding, rhythmic breathing), opening eyes and hearing beneath the surface.
3-5 years (Saturday 12-1p)
Next Wave of Champions 1: This class gives students additional practice in breath control, increase endurance and resistance to fatigue, improvement of crawl stroke, coordination for increase distance and endurance, and to teach an effective stroke on the back with coordination and inverted breaststroke kick. Additionally, this class gives students an introduction to water skills, fundamental aquatics skills, water safety and water fitness; building on the basic aquatics and give participants further success with fundamental aquatic skills performed to a slightly more advanced degree. Includes developmental preparation for Next Wave of Champions (Developmental) Swim Team
6-9 years (Monday 4-5p, 5-6p)

Next Wave of Champions 2: In this class we give students water safety skills and additional practice in stroke development, stroke refinement with guided practice of basics aquatic skills at slightly more proficient performance levels and greater distances and times. Includes developmental preparation for Next Wave of Champions (Developmental) Swim Team and age-group competition.
* This class, having no age requirement, has a swim qualification; the successful completion of one-unassisted lap.
6-9 years (Tuesday 4-5p)
Note: All group classes taught, having one student in attendance will be considered a private class and therefore requiring one-half hour of instruction.
One-on-one instructions catering to specific needs of the individual student in a controlled setting highlights our private learn-to-swim program for children and adults. Four half-hour private lessons. Cost: $175ea. (By Appointment Only)
Great for the beginner and his buddy wanting to learn to swim, or the experienced lap swimmer and best friend looking to refine their stroke technique is our Buddy & Me Program, just for two. Four one-hour semi-private sessions. Cost $175 each participant.

SWIM-N-SCHOOLS PROGRAM is a field-trip for schools where we offer swimming lessons to school-aged children, as the program is designed to tackle the alarming number of children not knowing how to swim. The program using teaching aids and recognition materials for pre-school aged to young adults. A philosophical orientation as regular progressive swimming instruction is incorporated into the program. The major program’s objective however, includes personal safety, introduction and enjoyment of water environment, lifesaving skills, swimming skill development, and fitness development. The Brookland Swim Academy has collaborated with TeamElite Swim Club, led by Coach Solomon Robinson, a prominent and renowned master swim coach, to form “Next Wave of Champions”, a learn-to-swim, swim team & aquatics club. Next Wave of Champions, is a competitively organized developmental youth age-group swim club for pre-schooled aged to 15 years who want to achieve a higher level of swim fitness. Next Wave of Champions, member US Swim, is designed to provide young swimmers opportunities for self-improvement in physical conditioning and stroke development while preparing them for local competition. Our goal is to enhance and sharpen the swim proficiency in all four of the competitive strokes and I.M. of participants within a structured swim training program with morning and evening practice availability.
Parents are encouraged to join Next Wave of Champions parent boosters, a parent group that supports youth scholar/athletes and this mission.
